Calçot season is here! The best restaurants to eat calçots in Barcelona
Calçots are one of the main dishes that make up the Catalan gastronomic menu. Between January 17 and April 23 is the recommended period to go and make a calçotada, although currently the custom has become so fashionable that the season is extended to the maximum, especially in some restaurants that each year host more and more families and groups of friends who have already incorporated the celebration into their annual routine.
In this blog note we are going to show you the restaurants that we recommend to plan your calçotada!
Can Travi Nou
They offer two special menus that include ‘xató’ salad, ‘calçots’ and barbecue with Santa Pau beans. The cheapest comes at 40.90 euros, the most complete at 56.50, but includes other specialties such as snails, cod fritters or roast beef with anchovies. In addition, there is a tapas menu with croquettes, sausages, omelette, rice, fideua, fritters and more, all very good. Wine and cava are also included of course J

Can Carbonell
One of the most traditional places for calçotadas! All the food is very good, although the best are the grilled dishes, the calçotades and the desserts (the crepe filled with nougat ice cream and cream or the pineapple with Catalan cream are spectacular). It is the perfect option to have a calçotada near Barcelona but in the middle of nature. If the weather allows you should make a reservation on the terrace, much better! Inside it has six different spaces within the huge Can Carbonell farmhouse. Plan a whole day and come there hiking from Barcelona center, so you deserve a great meal and lots of wine and cava which also comes included in the menu. Enjoy!
Location: Ctra. De la Muntanya,
Disbarat
Restaurant with good prices and also very delicious food. In the heart of the Gracia neighborhood, they offer Calçotas for only 28 euros with everything included. It is an option for those looking for a warm place where they feel as if they were eating in the living room of a good friend’s house. Sounds like a great option, and such a central location. Check it out!
Location: Calle Montseny, 14. Barcelona.
Can Cortès
This place is located in San Cugat, outside of the city. The food is very rich, a lot of quantity and the service super friendly. The setting is beautiful and the waiters are very attentive in everything. It has entertainers and a children’s menu that allow you to enjoy the food without the need to pay attention to your children. Enjoy the views and a lovely calçotada!
Location: Avenida de Can Cortés, 36. Sant Cugat del Vallès.
El jardí de l’àpat
Catalan food with a lot of variety and all served in a beautiful garden! They offer quality products, abundant and a great value for money. This restaurant is the best option for the most demanding gourmets and the most generous pockets. With views that allow you to explore the Carmel park, El Jardí de l’àpat offers a menu for € 32 which allows you to try a tile of calçots which will be accompanied by a barbecue of meat, sausage and lamb that together with potatoes, beans and artichokes will make the meal an experience difficult to forget. What a wonderful place in the city center!
Location: Calle Albert Llanas, 2, en Horta-Guinardó, Barcelona.
