Veggie Friendly Restaurants in Barcelona!
Are you a vegan or vegetarian and looking for a place to eat in Barcelona? Then you’re in luck! There are literally hundreds of options nowadays, but today we are here to recommend you our favourites. Some of them are not exclusively plant based, but who doesn’t crave a good, healthy, veggie meal?!
TERESA CARLES / FLAX & KALE
These two iconic restaurants share the same owner, an entrepreneur from Lleida that pioneered opening some of the first vegetarian restaurants in Barcelona. Teresa Carles serves a mix of traditional Catalan cuisine with innovative plant based recipes, while Flax and Kale is a flexitarian restaurant based on the newest health trends, and focused on offering the most delicious, nutritious meals. They also make incredible cold pressed juices! Both locations share a very good vibe and an excellent wine cellar.
WOKI MARKET
This is another great place where you can have lunch, dinner or enjoy some coffee with their delicious homemade cakes. But that’s not all! Woki is also a market that sells health foods and organic produce. This concept works well and is very interesting to see, a restaurant mixed with a supermarket. What we love to order here is the classic Wok; you can choose between different kinds of noodles and rice dishes and ask for your favourite sauces and ingredients to mix it with!
VEGGIE GARDEN
Veggie garden is a cosy spot in the Raval neighbourhood where you’ll find an amazing, 100% vegan daily menu for under 10 euros. They are offering two tasty courses, a drink and dessert, you’ll leave satisfied for sure! Their cuisine is Indian inspired and heavily centred on vegetables. You can also order juices, smoothies, coffee or a cocktail! The location is very central, right next to the famous MACBA. We recommend you give it a try!
VEGESANA
This little place might seem like a traditional Chinese restaurant, with the difference that it’s absolutely meat free! When we discovered it, we couldn’t believe the incredible variety of dishes and how delicious they all were. And not only that, it’s also super affordable and they have different daily menus. All dishes are traditional Chinese or adaptations, but the staff is super friendly and will happily clear any doubts you might have about them. Not many people know about Vegesana, so it feels like a hidden gem. We guarantee you’ll feel like at home!
CAT BAR
Cat bar is a very popular vegan bar in El Born, it’s a small place with a quirky punk / cat inspired decoration that you will love! They offer many simple and tasty vegan dishes but they are most famous for their yummy vegan burgers. Also known for offering a range of refreshing craft beers! Both food and drinks are served all day so you can sate your hunger and thirst while listening to the best alternative music.
BUEN BOCADO
Last but not least, we couldn’t leave without recommending another hidden gem; El Buen Bocado looks like just another one of the many kebab places in Barcelona, but they have the very best falafel in town. Completely home made with the best quality and freshest ingredients, the difference is astounding. So, go for the falafel, and try the hummus or baba ganoush as a side dish. We always finish our meal with a pot of traditional green tea with mint, very digestive and served by the always friendly waiter. We can’t recommend it enough!
Enjoy all these excellent options and stay healthy!
