In this blog note we will introduce you to one of the most prestigious universities in Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Barcelona is a highly recognized university city in Europe, mainly for its prestigious institutions of higher education, its variety of academic offer and the options for undergraduate and master studies.
History
The UAB was born in 1968 to
promote four ideas: free hiring of teaching staff, free admission of students,
free writing of curricula and free administration of the flows available to the
University. Its location outside of the city of Barcelona was not accidental,
its based in Sardañola del Vallés in order to disperse students to reduce their
protests against the Franco regime. In fact, the campus of Sardañola del Vallés
is located in a valley (The Moronta Valley ) because when the time comes, it
could easily be taken by the security forces. The university offers different areas to study:
Studies
- Engineering school
- Faculty of Biosciences
- Science Faculty
- Faculty of communication sciences
- Faculty of Education Sciences
- Faculty of Political Science and Sociology

In addition, it has the best postgraduate courses in Europe, with official master’s degrees, Erasmus, own postgraduate courses, postgraduate degrees in English, online postgraduate courses and even specialization courses, as well as doctorates, language courses and summer courses among other programs. Studying at the UAB guarantees the necessary training in the chosen field of study and thus being able to start your career and find a good job.
