Free Museums Day in Barcelona
On May 18th 2019 will be the “Night of the Museum” in Barcelona and the entry to museums will be for free! From 7pm until 1am the museums, cultural centers and exhibition halls in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, will remain open and its entry will be free. In addition to the usual museum program, other activities such as concerts, plays, dance and poetry recitals will also be held. It will be a lot of fun!!
You no longer have an excuse not to go to the museum, whether you are a fan of
museums, or if you do not like them a lot, it is a perfect opportunity to visit
them and enjoy a great night with your friends and family. Keep in mind that
its only once a year! The Night of the Museums is an
initiative of the European Council in which more than 4000 museums from 40
European countries participate. It is a great opportunity to walk through the Pedralbes
monastery, the CosmoCaixa, the Picasso museum, the Miró Foundation, the history
museum of Catalonia, the mysterious Statue of Liberty of the Alfons Arús
Library, the classic National Art Museum of Catalunya in Montjuic or even the
Barcelona Football Club Museum. There are so many to choose from…
Special
activities are offered, including a guided tour to learn about the history of
Montjuïc Castle, tours of the castle and visits to the castle’s facilities,
usually closed to the public such as the dungeons or the watchtower and its
spectacular views. Also, in many cities of the metropolitan area the museums
will open the doors during the hours of darkness such as Badalona, Cornellà,
Esplugues, l’Hospitalet, Sant Adrià de Besòs and Santa Coloma de Gramenet. To
make it easier for you to choose, you can go to the website that we indicate in
this blog and get a complete list of all the museums that participate in the
