Into the wild, an excursion to the Carretera de les Aigües!
A tour into the nature of Barcelona, it is not touristy at all and a great plan to escape the busy city for an afternoon. You can see Barcelona from different points of view, it is like a large balcony from where you can see the most emblematic monuments of the city!
Many people go there, to hang out with friends or family, others take the opportunity to do sports like running or riding a bike, taking advantage of the 9 km route along an unpaved track. It is perfect for inexperienced runners, hikers, cyclists or just for those who want to take it easy and go for a walk with their dog. Especially on sunny Sundays in the morning and in the afternoon it can become a quite lively place. It has a total length of about 20 km, which starts / ends on the road from Arrabassada to Plaça Mireia d’Esplugues.
The road has this name because in the past the water was circulating here. From Sant Pere Màrtir to the Rabassada road, the path becomes a walk surrounded by nature that can be done at any time of the year. The views are unbeatable, so you cannot forget your camera to capture this moment forever. In addition, it would be a good idea to also carry binoculars, to see the fauna and flora of the area with much more detail.
While walking, you find Barcelona at your feet and feel this incredible beauty. It is better if you go on a clear day to enjoy the views. In addition, the route is full of comfortable viewpoints where you can stop for a few minutes to contemplate the landscape and rest for a while. At a certain point of the road, you will find a detour to the right in case you want to climb the air batteries of Sant Pere Màrtir. It is a structure formed by three cannon bases of the Civil War. Its main objective was to defend Barcelona from the side of the coup plotters.
How can we get to Carretera de les Aigúes?
By Metro: from Plaza Catalunya take the S1 or S2 line and get off at the Peu del Funicular stop and take the Vallvidrera Funicular to the Carretera de les Aigües stop with the same ticket.
By Car: by the BV-1465, road from Sarria to Vallvidrera (about 2.5 km from the B-20 round) until you find the overpass of the metal footbridge
