Visit the best markets in Barcelona!
Barcelona is a city with a million activities to do and its impossible to get bored!
Barcelona’s gastronomy is one of the best in Europe. We recommend you try all the typical dishes! Prestigious restaurants, well-known Spanish chefs, international restaurants, there is a great gastronomic offer in the city. Besides the restaurants, there are also many famous markets you can enjoy. A market has its own charm and it’s the perfect setting to enjoy food, drinks, books and other things.
We would like to show you the two best and most famous markets in Barcelona: La Boqueria and the Sant Antoni market.
La Boquería
Its original name is “Mercat de Sant Josep de Barcelona”, but popularly known as “La Boqueria”. Located right at the famous Ramblas street, it is definitely THE most popular market in whole city and is even considered one of the Top 10 in the world.
there is no tourist who has not gone. It is a must of the visit to Barcelona to prove its exqiusiteses. You can find everything you want ! Ham, fish, paella, natural juices, and much more! We consider it a must-see place in our city as it still maintains the quality of the past. It is huge, you can find about 250 stops selling food & drinks, as well as some nice bars, little restaurants and a gastronomic classroom related to the market. There is also an information point which is practically at the opposite end of the entrance from Las Ramblas, following the entire central corridor. There they will give you a map with the different locations of some selected stores. The rest of the stops have a numbering that you can also see on the map and that will be very useful if you are looking for a specific recommendation.
Location: C / La Rambla, 91

Sant Antoni Market
The second largest market we would like to recommend is the Sant Antoni Market. This iconic Barcelona building reopens its doors after almost a decade of remodelling works. Many people already thought it would never be ready but on May 23rd 2018 the inauguration took place and it was a success!! It is incredible to walk through this place and look at the beauty of the building, imagine how old it is and the culture it preserves. It is definitely a hot spot to visits now, both for the variety of food and drinks and for the building itself.
There are actually 3 markets in one with 235 fully renovated establishments, with an average of eight linear meters. There is a lot more space now becauses the corridors are wider than before the remodeling. The main stands are located in the heart of the market on the ground floor. The 105 shops of the enchant (non-food) are located in the interior, in the corridors closest to the façade while the Sunday market is kept outside. This market has a lot to offer as you can find fresh food, charms and Sunday books. After 10 years of profound transformation the market reopened and expected at least 100,000 visitors for the inauguration. Originally it was an open-air market located in the portal of Sant Antoni.
Location: Carrer Comte d’Urgell, 1, 08011 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Transport: Metro Sant Antoni, L2.
