Beautiful beaches close to Barcelona, just a train ride away!
Barcelona is an incredible city, its right at the beach and there are also mountains nearby. Now it is the time of the year where it starts to get hotter and we wonder where to spend our weekends. Just a short train ride away you can find white beaches with incredible views, turquoise water, cliffs and hopefully few people only.
There are also amazing beach restaurants where at you can enjoy a Sunday lunch with delicious Paella and Sangria! Below we will tell you where you should go to escape the typical crowded tourist beaches to really relax this summer.
Ocata Beach
The beach of Ocata is located to the east of the port of El Masnou. There you will also find the Club Nàutic del Masnou and the Sailing Club Ocata Vent. It is a very large white beach with a lovely promenade which is also perfect for a long walk. It is especially recommended for young people because there are vibrant beach bars with live music and a large sports area! In the evenings there are many cultural events as well. Ocata is a great option to spend all day at the beach and end it with a beach party!
How to get there: Line R1 of Renfe Rodalies, station “Ocata”.
Beaches of Pla de Montgat, Sant Joan and Les Moreres
This is another one of the beaches that you cannot miss during your stay in Barcelona! You can arrive easily with the Renfe train in just 30 minutes, it is inside zone 1 so your T10 metro ticket works perfectly fine. Montgat has two kilometers of sand and 3 different beaches with an incredibly beautiful seafront. If you are surfers this is the place to go as its one of the favorite surf spots in Catalnya! Another highlight is that there are vintage beach bars and in front of the Montgat train station the brand-new Malamar Wakeboard park has been opened.
How to get there: Line R1 of Renfe Rodalies, stations of “Montgat” or “Montgat Nord”.
Beaches of l’Estació, Patins with candle and Pont d’en Butifarreta
This great beach is located in Badalona and has almost 4 km of coastline! It is huge with a length of 355 meters and a width of 65 meters. Right on this beach there is the Puerto Deportivo called ‘Port Badalona’. So much fun! You can rent surf boards, kayaks and do lots of different water sports. There are also many cool bars and terraces to visit. These beaches receive more tourists every summer. Better check it out before it gets too crowded!

Beach of Pont de Petroli
The beach of Pont de Petroli is very close to the Badalona train station. It has gotten its name from a footbridge at the coast, which is about 250 meters long with breath-taking views. It is a great place to enjoy and hang out with friends and family. The water is super transparent, seems to be great place for scuba diving as well.
How to get there: Line R1 of Renfe Rodalies, station “Badalona”.
Recommendations:
1.-Be careful with the sun, always use sunscreen! Remember that at the beach the sun’s rays are reflected in the sand and the sea. Between 11h and 16h are the most dangerous hours to expose yourself to the sun.
2. Take some food and drinks with you to the beach! Don’t forget to stay hydrated, in the summer it is very hot and you always have to drink more. If you forgot your food at home, don’t worry because there are great beach bars all around!
3. Clothing: We recommend a comfortable outfit to enjoy your day at the beach. Don’t forget your sunglasses, they protect you from ultraviolet rays.
After having read about all these nice beaches I imagine that you can’t wait to see them this summer. Have a great sunny day!
