Best Tapas in Barcelona!
Most people think that Spain is all about Tapas! Exactly for this reason there are many touristic and overpriced Tapas restaurants. But for the people who live here there are actually many excellent places I would like to recommend…
My absolute favorite Tapas restaurant in Barcelona is LA FLAUTA in Calle Aribau. In my opinion it’s simply the best price/quality tapas restaurant and I am not the only one who thinks so because it is crowded 24/7. The bestsellers you definitely have to try are: Huevos Cabreados, Pincho de Gambas, Revuelto de esparragos & champis, Montadito de Solomillo, Camembert con Almendras, Mini Hamburguesa and the typical Pan con Tomate. The house wines are great and come at a fair price. With good price/quality relation I am referring to about 25 Euros per person for a dinner with loads of food and wine! The service is excellent and very fast. Unfortunately you cannot make any reservations but you just have to be there early enough and put your name on the waiting list. The same owner actually owns 4 more restaurants with the exact same food: Cerveceria Catalana, Ciudad Condal, Vinitus and Flauta II.
LA SEMPRONIANA is located in Eixample in Calle Provenca and they focus on Catalan Tapas. What makes this place so special? To start with, the interior design is rather peculiar with very creative decorations. The atmosphere is like in your living room, really cozy and pretty, at the same time quite romantic. The price/quality relation is fair, for a nice dinner with wine you would be spending around 30 Euros per person. My favorite dishes are the following: Croquetas, Cajeta de Huevo, Arroz Negro, Tuna Tataki and Magret de Pato. You also have to try their freshly baked bread which they serve while still warm. You will also see that they have an awesome and very detailed wine menu, selling only Catalan wines. What’s also great about this place is that they are aware of food intolerances and can tell you exactly which dishes contain lactose, gluten etc. This place is very popular for Sunday lunch as well, so I recommend to always make reservations.
A beautiful restaurant I recently discovered is called MERCADER DE EIXAMPLE, located in Calle Mallorca in the Eixample neighborhood. The best thing about this place is the terrace which is actually a stunning little private garden which makes you feel like in the jungle. It’s quite hard to find lots of restaurants with nice terraces in Eixample, so this is a special one. The bestsellers on the Tapas menu are for sure the Caneloni, the Croquetas, the Pulpo and the grilled veggies. As the terrace is so famous it is always necessary to make reservations, especially in summer. The price for a dinner with mixed tapas and wine would be around 30 Euros per person.
Another cool place is called DISSET 17 GRAUS in the trendy Borne neighborhood. This Tapas restaurant specializes on wine and the name actually means 17 °C in Catalan. The atmosphere is very stylish, mixing modern furniture with an authentic wine bar flair. The wine menu changes every month and all of the wines are local ones from Catalunya. What I especially like about this place is the friendly service. They really know what they are doing and have some great recommendations! From the tapas menu you should definitely try the Solomillo, the Tuna Tartar, the Chicken sticks and the Mozzarella/Berenjena/Pesto bread. Prices here are pretty fair, you can expect to pay around 25 Euros per person for mixed Tapa dishes and some fine wines.
LA CAMARGA is located in Calle Aribau and has a truly amazing interior design and a really pretty little terrace with many flowers and plants. It is divided into two areas, the Tapas area and the official restaurant. I always prefer the Tapas zone as it’s more relaxed and prices are fair. Especially tasty is the Ceviche, the Tartar, the Burrata, the Solomillo and the Patatas con huevo y jamon. The lounge of the restaurant is also a nice spot to just have an aperitivos and some snacks. The price are fair, for a lovely dinner with wine you would be spending no more than 30 Euros per person.
